Feeding 10 Billion Flyer v3Why does over half the world’s human population of about 7.5 billion have an inappropriate diet? Around 800 million are hungry, 2 billion suffer from “hidden hunger” and about the same number are overweight. Various means by which this problem could be ameliorated and, in some instances, solved will be presented. This is an important topic and central to the work of Purley Overseas Trust. Richard is founding member of Purley Overseas Trust and was Chairman from 1991 until 2014. As an academic at University College London, he and his research associates investigated diseases of economic and social importance, principally those from Developing Countries, publishing over 100 scientific papers and two books. In retirement he co-founded the international journal, Food Security: the Science, Sociology and Economics of food production and access to food in 2008, and was Editor in Chief until the beginning of 2019.
